Griffin Baumoel first noticed the billboard business the way most people do: driving past it. But where most people see advertising, he saw an opportunity to invest in tangible assets and build something of his own.
He started by buying billboards from independent operators across the Midwest, sight unseen. Owning and operating them taught him the business from the inside: landowner relationships, permits and compliance, advertiser sales, maintenance and the economics that determine what a site is worth.
The next question was how to create value without paying full market price for every asset. The answer was development.
Finding a promising location is only the beginning. Land rights, local sign codes, state regulations and difficult approval processes can turn a seemingly good site into a dead end. The knowledge required to navigate those hurdles is hard-earned, fragmented and difficult to scale. Griffin learned that firsthand, through research, relationships, setbacks and years of working through the details.
RKDG grew out of that experience. We combine the practical knowledge gained in the field with proprietary technology designed to evaluate sites, interpret regulatory constraints and identify opportunities at a scale traditional methods struggle to match.
We are building a different kind of development platform: one that pairs the speed and reach of technology with the judgment, persistence and relationships required to get deals done.
